Forest Stages

As you may have heard, we had plans to have one new forest stage open for the 2013 Festival and another in 2014, but things are ahead of schedule so we are opening both in 2013!

Our new stages have been named! Spruce Hollow, and Little Stage in the Forest

Our day stage workshops are where some of the greatest magic happens. It’s here where we witness once-in-a lifetime collaborations in an intimate setting unlike any other.

We’re expanding our daytime programming with two new forest stages, each tucked away in natural clearings in the woods. Shade is something many of you have been asking for and these new stages in the forest are one of the many ways that we are increasing shade at our Festival. We’ll also be planting trees and putting up shade shelters in the new Festival Village, so you can find a bit of relief from the summer sun.

We’ve worked closely with Manitoba Conservation to ensure minimum impact on the natural habitat in the area and were delighted to discover these existing clearings on our site. Spruce Hollow even has a gradual slope to form a bit of a natural amphitheatre.

While we are opening two new stages in the forest, Little Stage in the Forest is actually the re-positioning of Little Stage on the Prairie. As many of you know, the location of Little Stage on the Prairie offered very little natural shade and there were some challenges with noise bleed from nearby Bur Oak Stage, so it makes sense to move it to a new home in the forest.
